LONDON WINTER SENIOR CHAMPS

The London Borough of Redbridge sent a large team to the London Winter senior championships last weekend. Even though this was this season’s first major championship there were some very impressive performances.

Phoebe Hayes swam a very good 400 & 800 free to win the senior titles.  In the 200 back, Phoebe finished 5th and 8th in the 50m free.  She also swam just outside of last season best to finish 8th in the 100 free.  Ben Hollis swam to first place in the junior ranking in the 100 fly (2nd senior) with a 1 sec PB.  He also swam 3 sec PB in the 200 fly and came 6th.  In the 100 & 200 free, Ben swam just outside of his PB, but set a PB in the 50 free.  Dean Smith swam a 3 sec PB in the 200 fly, finishing 2nd in the final.  Dean also equalled his PB in the 100 & 200 free and set a PB in 50free finishing 4th in the 200 and 7th in the 100 final.  He set a PB in the 100 back, finishing 4th but then set another PB in the first leg of the men’s 4X100 medley relay. Craig Moate won all of the disability events.  He completed on the 50, 100, 200, 400 &1500free.  Jonathan Worby had a great weekend, knocking 13 seconds off his 800 free and equalled his PBs in the 200 & 400 free.  Lawrence Brown, having just returned from illness, swam just outside of his PB in the 100 & 200 free and 100 & 200 back.  Chris Stamp swam a PB in the 100 free and just outside of his best in the 100fly, 200 free and 50 free.  Charlie Dentith had a good weekend, equalling his PBs in the 200IM, 200 & 400 free and 1500 free.  He was fractionally outside of his PB in the 400IM.  Sophie Copper swam a good 200IM and was just outside of her PBs in the 100 & 200 back.  Jessica Lambert swam a good 100 & 200 back and was fractionally outside of her PB in the 50 and 100 free.  Ellie Bedwell equalled her PB in the 200 free and was just outside in the 50 & 400 free.  Kelsey Richards made the final of the 200 fly and also competed in the 200, 400 free, 400IM.Ryan Smith equalled his PB in the 50 free and was slightly slower than his best time in the 400 event.  Lewis Defreitas-Archer was in impressive form, setting PBs in the 100 & 200 back and just outside of his best in the 50free and 100 fly.  Lewis finished just outside of his PB in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly.  Emily Cole swam to a PB in the 400 free and equalled her PB in the 100 & 200 free.  In the 100 fly, Emily made the set a best time and finished 7th.  Emily was just outside of her PB in the 50 free.  Joe Stamp had a good weekend, setting a PB in the 100 back, a 3 sec PB in the 200IM and swimming just outside of his best in the 100 free and 200 back
